Improved Zboží.cz May Help Sell Products Faster or May Turn Into a SEO Nightmare
With an abundance of ecommerce websites offering everything from garden utilities to designer dress-wear, product sorting and price comparison websites have become a necessity many people rely on when looking for the right product at the right price.
SEO experts are aware that price comparison websites commonly focus on and target national or regional markets. Idealo.co.uk covers the UK market, Bizaret.com targets US customers and if you are looking for something in Germany Price.de is a good starting point. In the Czech Republic however, Zboží.cz is among the most popular price comparison sites.
Zboží is part the Seznam family
The Czechs are known for having a highly developed ecommerce platform. And those who regularly keep up the date with our Czech SEO news also know that Seznam.cz has a special place in the local market, covering 31% of all online searches. Zboží.cz was actually launched and is run by Seznam, recording a daily visit rate of 127 159 and displaying offers from 25.000 shopping websites.
Introducing two new preview features
Relevant to Czech SEO and ecommerce, Seznam announced the latest update of Zboží’s page outline, which includes two new preview features.
1. When a user is searching for a particular product, basic information for that product is displayed under the description. See the example below when searching for the mobile phone HTC One Mini:
2. When a user is searching in a particular product category they have the option of either filtering the category further or choosing among selected products directly. This can be seen in the picture below when searching in the category “Telephones, navigation”:
There are two sides to Zboží’s update. On one hand it is great that the website is dedicated to being as user friendly as possible. The new search previews will help users to better find what they are looking for and also to help them specify what kind of product they actually need. This is also good news for retailers, but let’s not forget that ecommerce websites need to be conscious of the names and categorization of products they are selling online.
It’s a funny SEO paradox – Zboží redirects the users to retailers’ websites based on what is written there, but it does so by using its own search and sorting methods. The bottom line is – if you are selling online in the Czech Republic, it would be good to double check how Zboží is displaying your products and see if your content needs mending.
